Final Recording (C.J.)
It's 2 o'clock in the morning and I have just finished putting together the separate recordings I did of myself playing the Tobuscus theme. Because the other attempts did not work out, I was forced to make them with just me playing each individual part, but that does not mean the other people in the group were not part of the whole project. We all worked from start to finish, practicing, playing, and recording this arrangement, and I enjoyed seeing our work come together, fall apart, then come together again. Writing this arrangement gave me an ear for the essentials cords and intricate melodies and countermelodies and harmonies necessary to make the piece sound musical. It was a good step towards composing my very own pieces, but for now, I'll stick to arranging. There is something about finding a piece of music, that in your ears sounds awesome, and then making it so that you can play it, that I really enjoy about arranging.
With the audio file I just made, I am going to put it to a video of me "playing" it, and throw in a bit of special effects, just for entertainment. After that, I will start writing the Legend of Zelda arrangement I keep talking about, then plan for a Skyrim theme arrangement FOR THE ENTIRE BAND, which sounds like this:

Imagine going to state next year with this song.

Presentation Day (C.J.)
Today is the day we get to present. We got our stuff already. We have decided to have to parts to our presentation: our recording of tobuscus's theme and show how we taught Paul the trombone suicide. I hope Paul shows up, because he kind of has our final mix of the theme.
For next semester, if it hasn't already become apparent, I am writing a for part medley of Legend of Zelda songs. I plan work a lot on that over winter break. I also plan to make the tobuscus's theme into video form, and somehow send it to Toby Turner himself.

Jeff's new post
So on Monday we worked on the piece CJ transposed and we decided to give me the first part. This was beecause I do not have a F attachment trombeone and can not physically play the notes on the music. So CJ took the 3rd part and I took the first and I need to practice for the piece.

Song choices (C.J.)
I have a preliminary list of songs from LoZ that I hope to include some way in the medley:
Ocarina main title theme, Hyrule Field , Zelda's Lullaby, Kaepora Gaebora's theme*, Lon Lon Ranch theme, the Sun Song, Lost Woods , Market theme, Kakariko Village theme*, Great Fairy's Fountain* , Temple of Time, Windmill Hut/Song of Storms, Prelude of Light, Gerudo Valley, Majora Title/Clock Town theme, Mayor's House Council Room*, Termina Field (LoZ main theme adaptation)*, Elegy of Emptiness, Calling the Four Giants*
All of these can be listened to on the link (get it?) I posted a short while ago. If any of the group wants to add or subtract a song, post it on the blog for my consideration.
*I am on the fence about including these songs

trombone status (C.J.)
I forgot to mention in one of my previous posts but my trombone's slide was dented while our group was attempting to do the trombone suicide blind folded. I'm not blaming anybody, especially not Jeff. I took it in to be repaired and it should be ready sometime tomorrow.
Cool discovery (C.J.)
I found a cool website that has literally all of the Legend of Zelda music for Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. This will make my work a lot easier.

Jeff's blog
We finally were able to practice the piece CJ wrote. It is kind of hard because it is phisically impossible for my trombone to play one of the notes in the piece so for now I have to fake the note or use CJ's trombone. If I only had a F attachment this would be easy but i don't.

TITLE
Today we did the practicing for the song that cj arranged. It was supposed to be written out in finale for the previous session. There were also several errors in the piece. I also don't like practicing in the practice rooms. I sound awful in there. The hallway is much better. I don't think we'll get to playing my piece. Looks like I'm writing it out just for the sake of writing it out. (Parker Hansen)
Progress (finally) [C.J.]
Ian finally got done with the piece he was supposed to do last week. We got to practice it today and it is coming along. I think we should make a video of it. I also have gotten some ideas for the Zelda medley, but have yet to write them down.

Jeff's google day post number IDK
Today we got together for another Google day and we finally got to practicing CJ's piece. It was very confusing to read and me without a F attachment on my trombone I could not play the 3rd part so hopefully I get an F attachment soon so this will work out. And hopefully Ian gets the piece on Finale thing so it will be easier to read and we can try to play it again.

Update
Things are coming along well for me. I have the melody for the first part written out. I still need to work on finding some nice sounding chords that will go well with my piece, and furthermore, where such chords would fit in. (Parker Hansen)

Day 2 (Paull Collins)
After meeting today i have my work set out for me. I've found a few arrangements i want to write and i have to start writing out a synth part for a song CJ is arranging. On a positive note i learned trombone suicide today! Now i have to learn how to hold a trombone. Sadly Piers seemed apposed to me playing at the games but... on a positive note i really don't care what he thinks :) All together it was a constructive game!
Second google day post
Dear, viewers
Today we had out second Google day and now CJ has pretty much finished the tobuscus theme song and he just needs Paul's bass line. We also taught Paul how to do trombone suicides which was fun. Now we need to start practicing.

My work so far (C.J.)
As Ian has said, I have finished my first arrangement, a four part trombone arrangement of Tobuscus's theme with an added bass part, and I now plan to start working on another arrangement that probably going to be finished sometime next semester. Its going to be a medley of song from the Legend of Zelda games series (really only Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask). Today we also taught Paula how to do the trombone suicide with the matrix addition, however I have gotten opposition from Piers about allowing Puala to perform it with us at the game.
Ian Second Blog
so far, Cj has now finish the physical writing of the quartet, but now I am going to write it out on the computer to make it neater, and easier to read. Also I have found a ton of quartet music, so i will start to trasnpose that music into four trombone parts and the tuba part for the bass. On a completley different note, paul has decided that he wants to learn trombone suicide, so its time to start teaching him the basics :)

C.J.'s Progress
Right now I am working on the last of the four trombone parts for the theme I am arranging, but I still am not sure what I am going to have Pual do.

first post by C.J.
Forgot to blog last night, so I'm doing it now. Basically what I am doing is arranging a four part trombone piece that we will either record or play live. Paul will probably help record along with playing the arrangement.

Jeff's first post
Dear viewer
Our trombone courtet and Paul was started today as we gave out ideas to Mr. Matthys. CJ and Parker are getting closer to finishing the songs for us to play. Hope our project turns out to not be the worst thing. Because this is a kind of big part of our grade. So I hope this turns out well.

Cj and parker have almost finished there songs and i feel that we will be able to start practicing by next week.
